Is There Any Slow Growing Breast Cancer

The story of a girl named Genie Wiley

There are many stories that seem to be unrealistic because of the cruelty they contain, especially those harboring the human suffering and, in particular, we have the pain suffered by children. The case shocked the world when it was unveiled in history. Were studied by then stories like Averyon Victor, who was found in the woods when he was thirteen years old. He behaved like an animal, as it had grown from very small to them, maybe it was left to die or lost by their parents. The fact is that this guy died and the studies conducted around the event were overwhelmed researchers in the decades of 60 and 70.

This is the story of a girl named Genie Wiley., Who lived in a suburb of Los Angeles in 1970.

Genie was born April 18, 1957. His mother was almost blind and her father beat her constant beatings. In addition, Genie had a brother named John. All lived in seclusion at home, and, rarely, Clark, Genie's father, left them out.

When Genie was born, we did not detect any physical abnormality, but did not begin speaking until 20 months, so it was feared he suffered some form of mental retardation. So, fearing that, by their family situation, social services removed him custody of his daughter, Clark locked in a room of the house was almost completely blocked. For thirteen years, Genie could only see about five centimeters of sunlight. At the same time, the only person that Genie had contact with her father, who came to feed (usually with baby food) as Genie was unable to do anything alone. Solia be tied to a chair or in a cage that his father had made for her, and could barely walk upright. He was forbidden to broadcast sound, and if I did, her father beat her. Until one day, Clark is confused and his wife took a Genie and John to go for social services. Alli believed, by height and extreme thinness Genie appeared, which was about six or seven years, and also thought he was autistic. But to know the details of the story out quickly to the police, who immediately took action on the matter. Only the father was found guilty, as the mother, due to its state of almost total blindness and the frequent threats by her husband, could do little Genie. Genie's father, the same day that the trial was held, took his life after being shot in the temple.

quickly, Genie was transferred to Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. They realized that something else failed in the case of the girl, because, apart from not communicate verbally, could not walk straight and do not know things such as feeding herself and dressing. They began their case studies: there were doctors who felt it was useless to teach it to use language, and there were others who felt that it was not yet too late. One of the doctors, Dr. Jeanne Butler got to take her home to study it more thoroughly. Receiving aid Genie government to live at home, and try to adopt it, but to no avail, so the girl, at the insistence of doctors who complained of Dr. Butler said he wanted to take advantage of the situation, had to return to hospital, where he was subjected to constant testing. Then it was discovered almost total inactivity of the girl left hemisphere (the hemisphere in which language skills are key), which appeared atrophied.

Shortly thereafter, adopted a Genie Rigler, who learned to communicate verbally and with signs, but four years later he ended government subsidies and left a Genie. Was returned to her mother, who had recovered some of its visual power after an operation, but returned to give her up for adoption, claiming that he was unable to care. Six families took during this time, and returned to being abused and even stopped talking after being hit by vomiting.

Today, we say that Genie is in an institution for adults with various mental disabilities, but are not sure whether living or dead. With the cessation of investigations being carried out she never really know if Genie had some type of mental retardation or problems with language and social integration were exclusively the result its closure in infancy. If it is true that there is what is called the "critical period of learning" or "sensitive period" in which the plasticity of the brain of an infant or young child is more receptive to learn skills such as the language. After that time, efforts are much older and not getting the same results. Genie made progress in learning vocabulary, but the syntax is kept locked, and that alone was capable of stating phrases like "big stick hit Father (father hit big stick) In the case of Genie, was achieved not socialize.

have written pages and pages on Genie Wiley and on other cases children "feral", or children who have been, in one way or another, deprived of social contact in childhood. There is also a movie that was released in 2001 entitled "Mockingbird Do not Sing."

There is much controversy regarding the studies conducted with these children, who were allegedly treated as subjects of experimentation, as if the fact that they could not behave like other human beings in any way prevent them to be treated as such. Genie looked as if he were an animal or something, because the studies are probably subjected to traumatic, and, perhaps, that seriously affect their social integration. In families why it happened it seemed that the money they received to help adopt out the only reason for it to be received within so many homes that was. However, the abuse that succeeded were continuous.

Experimentation with these children has almost completely lost for lack of evidence to ensure, for example, if Genie had some form of mental retardation, as discussed, or if your disability was caused solely by their isolation. Keep in mind that first impressions, which were their parents, was that the girl was delayed because it took much more than any child to speak. Among

feral children throughout history have been finding at least some notable examples such as "wolf children" Hessians, the first documented case that took place in mid-fourteenth century. Averyon Victor is one of the most famous, along with Genie. His case would be the one inspired the creation of characters like Mowgli or Tarzan, but the reality was quite different. At first, Victor was behaving like an animal, and could even respond with aggression if he felt threatened. He learned, like Genie, a bit of vocabulary, but never came to understand syntax. Also made a documentary film about the case, called L'enfant sauvage or wild Child. Kaspar Hauser, a German boy of 16 who had lived in a cell, is another good example. Had serious problems understanding and answered all questions with "no." In your case, there is also a movie, The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser. Kamala and Amala were found in India, and were raised by wolves. Amala died shortly after being found, and Kamala did 8 years later. One of the last cases being studied is to Rochom P'ngieng, a Cambodian who, after missing nearly two decades, was found to steal food in a town near the forest.
