(FINAL) COMMON IDEAS REGARDING THE DRUG: THE SOCIAL Codependency

Lucrecia Maldonado

And what will now become of us without barbarians?

Maybe they were a solution after all.

[Konstantinos Kavafis]

Drug addiction is not a crime, even though its effects on all types of crimes committed. Consumption drugs is not a sin but the last Pope has so decided. Addiction is a disease of the soul. And as has happened with all the pandemics in the world have been, is a metaphor for the environment in which it occurs. And like any disease of the mind and spirit, speaks more than those who think 'healthy' than those shown ill.

Often when a family has a psychiatric problem, with proper treatment if that person begins to overcome, another family member has symptoms, if not the same, something similar. Why? Because the original patient was only a symptom of family pathology.

Those familiar with the matter say that addiction stems from a lack of parental archetype. Then the idea was that in this society of super moms, hedonism beyond any logic, irrational consumerism and family dissolution, in fact, without the father archetype, which is the order that through culture and seeks to moderate the dominance of instinct and wildness, it is not surprising that this disease, at other times almost nonexistent, is now one of the most common ailments and 'dogged'.

addiction also speaks of pain and lack of spiritual strength to resist knowing. An urgent need to defuse a deep inner pain. What hurts the addict? Life hurts. Nonsense. The emotional needs that are trucked from childhood and even the previous generation. Too often, an addicted person wants to die for no longer feel. In a world that tries to fill life with objects, be it a blackberry or a cell bearing the Chavo, the emptiness of the soul takes to be felt in any way, and when no objects are available or when we discover that the objects enough and the gap becomes intolerable, then the substances that alter states of consciousness can be a good surrogate to help us get on with life ... or end it.

But if we go a little further, the 'sin' of addiction, like many sins of heresy, also talks about search. And in many cases speak of a spiritual quest, even with the wrong procedures and the terrible consequences we know. This attempt to verify whether the alleged truths desmamantaron we really are. And the pain of discovering that it is not.

While in the short term prevention and control certain types of solutions might seem to refer to this disease, I would argue that the real solution will be a very long time. Like the barbarians of Cavafy, The world today needs of addicts to have on the one hand, an excuse to arm repressive apparatus and power circles, and on the other addicts are required to become the mirror of our own world empty of meaning and warmth.

The real vaccine against this epidemic is to rebuild the soul of the world soul and the souls of people. The question is how? Solutions beyond law enforcement and regulatory useless religious, spiritual work is already applied in many areas of rehabilitation and support to addicts may be a valid tool for the moment, because as it stands, change the world it will take millennia ... although it is possible that it can be done.
